About the Sacred Destination

Presiding Deity
Lord Venkatesa Perumal (Standing Vishnu with Sridevi and Bhudevi)

An ancient 9th–11th century temple located at the sacred confluence (Triveni Sangamam) of the Palar, Cheyyar, and Vegavathi rivers near Kanchipuram. It is internationally renowned for the 1067 CE inscription of Chola Emperor Virarajendra detailing the 'Veera Cholesvara Aathula Salai'—a 15-bed free inpatient hospital, pharmacy, and medical college.

Sthala Puranam & Authentic Legends

According to sthala purana, Markandeya Maharishi worshipped here at the confluence of the three rivers. The Chola emperors believed that curing sickness (Aathula Salai) was the highest service to Narayana.
