Practical Observations

Highways & Road Conditions

Chennai to Tindivanam NH-45 GST Road is a 6-lane tollway in pristine condition. Cruise control at 90 km/h. Tolls paid at Paranur (₹75) and Athur (₹110). Tindivanam to Thiruvannamalai SH-79 is a smooth 2-lane road with recent resurfacing; budget +20 mins for railway crossing near Gingee.

Parking & Crowd Management

Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple: Avoid attempting to park directly in front of the Eastern Rajagopuram or Car Street during weekend evenings due to heavy pedestrian foot traffic and police barricades. Park at the municipal paid parking lot on Chengam Road near East Car Street (₹50/day) or use hotel parking. Ramana Ashram: Ample shaded parking available inside the Ashram outer visitor compound.

Food & Accommodation

Breakfast stop at Hotel A2B / Saravana Bhavan near Vikravandi Toll Plaza on NH-45 (Crispy Ghee Roast Dosa & hot Filter Coffee). Thiruvannamalai tiffin: Sri Abirami Tiffin Center near Temple Bus Stand (Podi Idli & Vadai), Ramana Ashram Canteen (simple pure ghee sattvic lunch & buttermilk), and Hotel Sathya for traditional South Indian banana leaf thali.
